You Wanna Go To War? Exclusive!

31 Aug

If you haven’t heard the 50 cent diss to Diddy yet, Listennnn!. Sounds like somebody is real salty about the Mase deal not going down with Puff. 50 said Puff knows damn well who killed Biggie…. TIMEOUT!… something is wrong here!

And to top it all off, 50 said he’s threatening to tell everybody what Misa (Puff’s baby momma) supposedly told him. I’m sure that has something to do with those DL rumors floatin’ around about Diddy… Where’s the Love? Like my man Barnes would say, “somebody gotta pay for that!”. I guess he’s finished holding up The Lox’s releases over at Interscope and found a new interest… Who knows, better yet, who cares???

Irv Gotti-Back In The Game

22 Aug

Irv Gotti was expected to sign a deal early this week that would put him back in business with Universal Music Group, the world’s biggest record corporation, which had financed Murder Inc. and distributed its recordings. The deal would make him the chief of a new profit-sharing venture with the company’s Universal/Motown label.

“It feels exhilarating,” Mr. Lorenzo said in an interview. “It’s like a rebirth. It feels like God put me through hell, showed me a lot of things, showed me who the good people and bad people are around me, and lined me up to do what I’m put here to do.”

Under the three-year deal Universal will commit roughly $10 million to Mr. Lorenzo in an advance against future profits and payments to cover overhead, said people briefed on the arrangement, who spoke on condition of anonymity. The deal also includes a provision that could allow Mr. Lorenzo to buy ownership of Murder Inc.’s master recordings, these people said.

Mr. Lorenzo returns with a roster that includes Murder Inc.’s signature acts: the rapper Ja Rule and the R&B singer Ashanti. He has also been working to resolve a contract dispute with another R&B vocalist, Lloyd. Mr. Lorenzo has been eyeing artists in other genres, and has been in talks to sign the pop-oriented singer-songwriter Vanessa Carlton, who had a hit in 2002 on another Universal label.

Even with the new pact, it may prove difficult for Mr. Lorenzo to return to the platinum-selling pinnacles he reached a few years ago. Ja Rule and Ashanti have had lackluster sales with their last few albums, although Mr. Lorenzo said that was largely because of an overall decline in the music market.

While unaccustomed to the role of underdog, he said he was not concerned about competition.

What If….

22 Aug

What if Nas and 50 did a track together. Would it be hot? I love to hear youngins talk about this topic….Now now kiddies cop a squat and let L Boogie school you for a moment. Long ago before rap turned into a pop culture artists focused on lyrics as well as the beat. This was a time way before big corporations began to dictate what was poetic talent and what wasn’t. This was an era when being a rap artist wasn’t easy because the rappers actually had to use thier brains. Mc battles meant going off the top of the dome.  If your lyrics were wack nobody liked you. Rapper saturation was never an issue due to the fact that not everybody had talent. Luckily for you some of those special beings still exist. Some of the most powerful modern day artists came from that era but are a dying breed because of the lack of knowledge and awareness. So what if Nas and 50 did a track??…They did. This was back when 50 cent payed close attention to what he said on the mic. This was also back when Nas had the game in a choke hold…..

When The Levees Broke… A Spike Lee Joint

21 Aug

Spike-Lee-052When The Levees Broke

Moments like these are the reasons why I love Spike Lee. He is unafraid to go where Hollywood does not want to. He has produced some of the most iconic, fashion forward, thought provoking, heart touching movies ever. To me, he is the greatest Black filmaker ever. He is the greatest definition of fly, he is an educated, established, Black man. He was recently honored as the first person ever with his own tribute sneaker by having his face on the Jordan IV’s, and you know we all loved Do The Right Thing! (They killed Radio Raheem!).

Tonight August 21st, and Tuesday August 22nd, Spike takes us once again into a world that few have experienced but multitudes were affected by: Hurricane Katrina.

As the world watched in horror, Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans on August 29, 2005. Like many who watched the unfolding drama on television news, director Spike Lee was shocked not only by the scale of the disaster, but by the slow, inept and disorganized response of the emergency and recovery effort. Lee was moved to document this modern American tragedy, a morality play witnessed by people all around the world. The result is WHEN THE LEVEES BROKE: A REQUIEM IN FOUR ACTS. The film is structured in four acts, each dealing with a different aspect of the events that preceded and followed Katrina’s catastrophic passage through New Orleans. Acts I and II premiere Monday, August 21 at 9pm (ET/PT), followed by Acts III and IV on Tuesday, August 22 at 9pm. All four acts will be seen Tuesday, Aug. 29 (8:00 p.m.-midnight), the first anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. (Source)

I guarantee this will be a must see!!! You can bet the house on me…. I’ll get back!
