This my opposing view. Let me be the Devils Advocate.
We all came up listening to real hip hop. Some of us even id the transistion from pop rap..sugar hill, kurtis blow etc….to hip hop electro etc Bambaataa..and NEWCLEUS to lyric laden HIP Hop… Joeski Love (Pee Wee),LL Cool J (cant live without my radio) to the first commercially successful love song LL cool J (I need Luv) which we all hated, cos even back in the day it made Uncle L look soft. And this was back in the 80s in Africa. These events made hip hop an evolutionary process that still continues today. Where were the super lyrics then BRO???
My Point? well you’re entitled to your peception of hip hop but i believe its reationary and has a selective sense of hip hop history, its unsophiscated sophistry bro. HIP HOP IS NOT JUST ABOUT LYRICS…THAT IS A MODERN DAY MYTH. RAPPING IS ABOUT LYRICS. Hip Hop supersedes rapping as an art form and cultural influence…why pokadot kwame if Im wrong?
If you put it out there expect some people to question it…like you question your so called wack rappers validity, we can question your chosen direction when you post and write about HIP HOP and ask you to defend your position.
But we still gonna be on Bronxrap…regardless cos its an outlet,even if its a narrow and parocial one.
