Check out some hiphop history. This is a young Jay-Z with the Godfather of all these corny rappers flows, Jaz-O. 70% of the game rhymes like Jay-Z who owes Jaz-O some credit. Many rappers today are still not touching these dudes skills at that point in time (almost 2 decades ago)……………HHFanatic

wow!!! i remember watching that video on uncle ralph’s show with the vid kid ” video music box. as you can see this i believe was after “hawaiian sophie” and jaz-o was promoting his beliefs as a muslim. while jay was still a layman. the pro-black movement in rap music was beginning to take force and shape. public enemy, x-clan, and poor righteous teachers to name a few were emerging and that pro black rap was hot!!! the 5% nation had many rappers. bran nubians!!! rap still had a message but was fun, not too preachy. but the next time we saw jay, he was solo and there was a reasonable doubt that jay was responsible for changing the game forever.
Damn, good look on the commentary. I should copy and paste your comment under the video as the actual blog post. Keep spreading knowledge.
I agree with what you said it’s true, but it’s funny how Jay was sportin a medallion back then. Now you would never hear anything pro black come out of his mouth. It’s funny those groups that you mentioned are no longer around why? because they chose to keep it pro black…
speakin of medallions. its time for some Royal flush – Iced down medallions. peace
thank u & with my best wishes for you
This is documented history of where that original rapid fire Twister Bone Thug type flow originated. Alot of dudes don’t remenber this one and how it pre dates those rappers. This was crazy original at the time. Great post.
this is the illest shit i ever heard
actually if i remember correctly it was das efx who were the first rapid tongue rappers to hit the scene. then kriss kross helped to bridge that gap by biting das style but since they were kids they had a broader appeal and demographic so this opened the door for the windy city rapper, who claimed to be the fastest rapper and i believe he held the record for it. but you can see it then became gimmecky, and everyone and their mama wanted to rhyme fast.
Gank..you’re wrong brah..Das came out in ’92..This came out in ’90. Plus Das was on some stutterin’ shit..NOT rapid fire..big difference..
God bless hip hop.no matter what you do you will always have the essence.whether u look 2 the past or future.THanks folk.Numero Uno website 4 hip hop
like i said i think and we all know sometimes thought comes from not knowing and i didn’t do my fact checking. after awhile all the years just tend to blur into one big happy summer bbq. thanks for the correction.
