Yes people you are hearing this news and probably in shock as much as I am….Big DEE went on to say that Mos Def was better than Sadat….I dont know how he came with this decision but I respect his opinion….My opinion is…Sadat has an ill type flow….And he has been able to master the art of not rhyming when you think it should rhyme and rhyming when you didn’t expect him to….He speaks very clearly with a broad spectrum of thoughts and topics. He’s a very descriptive dude as well…While he may not be the punch line king, I favor him because he comes with the unexpected verses….You cant forecast what he’s gonna say next ever…..In my book Dee, Mos aint got nothin on Sadat fam….Ya’ll might agree with him and thats cool…So lets speak on it…
i can’t quote any sadat x off the top of da dome, but his flow is unique because of 3 things, 1. location, eastcoast influence, topics that journalistic type of rhymescheme, you were actually the news reporter of your hood so you had to speak clear concise and stay on task. it was all about “focus” man! and mostly the focus wasn’t on you or how much you had, that was very early in the stage of nyc/eastcoast style of braggadocio. and quite frankly we (fans)and they (emcees) 2. era. the time he came up in was ripe for that type of style and that type of flow, which prodigy of mobb deep made infamous it’s a fighting the rhyme style., in which he goes against the flow of the beat. but you see prodigy came after sadat x. so prodigy took it to the next step. now that doesn’t make prodigy a better emcee, just that he progressed a step. and 3. voice. sadat x has a voice that’s recognizeable anyplace. it might be due to its nasal sounding quality, but it’s inmistakable. prior to sadat x, another hiphop icon who flowed in that similar style but was a little more erratic is kool keith. now as far as mos being better than x? i wouldn’t say better, just different. sadat rhymes are more of a conversation with the listener, whereas mos is more of telling a story.
“I can freak, fly, flow, f*ck up a f*gg*t. Don’t understand they ways, and I ain’t down with gays.” That was Sadat X at his finest. The song is called “Punks Jump Up to Get Beat Down”. But you guys already knew that.
my apologies when posting prior comment i accidentally deleted the last portion of my first point.
You motherfuckers need to listen to WILD COWBOYS “ON A TREE THERE’S A PICTURE OF ME IT SAYS I’M LAWLESS FLAWLESS A HUSTLER PLUS A GUN BUSTER”-THE GREAT SADTAT X.
MOS is cool though the best shit he did was RESPIRATION with Kweli and Common.
Honestly, he had some lyrical skills, but his voice is irritating.
if yall think sadat fuckin x is better than mos def stop listin 2 rap asap , maybe the person who said this is a souja boy fan or sumthin
I think you can’t compare the two, but you guys did and I have to be partial to Sadat. Not saying Mos is wack but damn Sadat been in the game for a minute and that track where he rapped about the NY Post was crazy, so to me he’s versatile and you know the lyrics he speaks he actually went through. Now that he’s out of jail let’s see what he has. Obviously new rap fan’s go with Mos but I gotta be bias and he reps the Bx in his lyrics.
I’M BIAS B/C SADAT IS MY FAVORITE RAPPER. OF COURSE HE IS NOT THE MOST LYRICAL BUT THATS THAT NIGGA RIGHT THERE AND I LOVE THAT NIGGAS MUSIC. HAVE YA HEARD THAT EP STATE OF NEW YORK VS DEREK MURPHY, COCK IT BACK IS SICK; NO HOMO
