Lol yeah energy I know plenty of people who not only say hers is boring but that they couldnt even listen to the song the whole way through. So it’s really a matter of opinion. But what is absolute fact is that the quality is bad and the harmonies…dont harmonize, they clash.
      -shrugs-
i think mine is a whole lot better.

    • energy1 12:03 pm on August 29, 2007 Permalink | Reply

This is what you call a sad attempt at getting publicity. To try and insult a fellow artist as well as a fellow black woman is very sad and shows why our community as well as the hip hop community is the way it is. Esha thahks for coming to the the site because you and your friends have givin us more hits for the day. So good look on that. I think you need to re-evaluate your approach, and try to build on your self esteem isuues. Try a different approach, and maybe you’ll get noticed, but this display is very wack, and childish so before you get a deal(which I’m sure you will) you need to grow up sista. Real Hip Hop BIG DEE Holla…..

    • Esha 12:24 pm on August 29, 2007 Permalink | Reply

Wait wait wait wait, lol you have me all wrong. Never once have I disrespected the girl, or tried to insult her. Ever, I simply gave my opinion on her song, the same you gave you opinion. So because I dislike the song i’m insulting her? Please dont try to twist it around because you and I both know its not even like that.

When a random joe smo doesnt like it, it’s cool, when YOU speak on my version saying “her version of bed put me to bed. It was aiight but it had no feeling. I wasn’t impressed at all.” it’s all fine and dandy, you’re not in the wrong, but when a “fellow black artist” gives her opinion, she’s giving an insult? Are you KIDDING ME?

Do you not see the contradiction?

And no, I dont need to evaluate my approach, the dude who sent me 3 messages in a row with the title “HERS VERSION IS BETTER THAN YOURS SHE’S LIGHT YEARS AHEAD OF YOU” needs to re-evaluate his approach! If this was a link someone gave me saying “check this out” then no, I wouldnt have said “I think mine is better”, but since thats how this song was given to me, thats how i’m going to respond to it.

So like I said before, I never disrespected nor insulted her, I even said nice job overall. Me giving a critique on where she went wrong on the song was in no way an attempt to insult her, so please dont get it confused. I am a very humble person, but at the same time I still have the right to give my opinion without being looked at is the bitter fellow black singer.

Lmao I can’t believe you would even try to go the “bitter black fellow artist” route with me all because I think my version is better. That’s what you call a sad attempt.

What ever you might think of him he is one of the greatest lyricists I’ve heard.

Just on this track he absolutly kills.

“Make money but don’t forget who you’re fucking with, the steets carry me like the Hebrew arch of the covenant”

“Behind closed doors they talk like Nixon, Mark Fellman? and Mel Gibson, but i’ll fuck that crowd up like the Pistons and I’ve been like that since Robert Downey Jr was sniffing snice 50 Cents’ mum was cooking crack in the kitchen”

I can understand how you can personally feel about him but I think we all want the same thing. He chooses to sound miltant a majority of the time but I think that is acceptable if you’re making the listener think. He is making great hip hop but you don’t have to agree with everything he says.

      4th Branch
“The voice of racism preaching the gospel is devilish
A fake church called the prophet Muhammad a terrorist
Forgetting God is not a religion, but a spiritual bond
And Jesus is the most quoted prophet in the Qu’ran”

“How could this be, the land of the free, home of the brave?
Indigenous holocaust, and the home of the slaves
Corporate America, dancin’ offbeat to the rhythm
You really think this country, never sponsored terrorism?”

“Flow like the blood of Abraham through the Jews and the Arabs
Broken apart like a woman’s heart, abused in a marriage
The brink of holy war, bottled up, like a miscarriage”

Autopsy Of A Verse : Killah Priest

As one of the more visible members in the revolving cast of Wu-satellite emcees, Brooklyn’s Killah Priest has always been a sort of acquired taste among dilettantes, inspiring wild enthusiasm or yawn-inducing boredom, depending on who you ask. I’ve always felt that the man never received his due; as the story goes, Priest would have usurped Masta Killa’s place in the Clan had he not fallen asleep in the studio during the recording “Da Mystery of Chessboxin’.” I’d certainly rather hear him than Cappadonna or even U-God any time of day, but Priest’s Achilles’ heel has always been his inability to assert his presence on a given track. Surrounded by the contrasting technicolor personalities of the other Clan members, Killah Priest’s low-key demeanor inevitably fell by the shadows. Yet in the history of hip hop, few have wholly embodied the expression “droppin’ science” as he has; pay close attention to his lyrics and it doesn’t take long to recognize the man’s brilliance. Although I agree with all of what you said, on the strength of Heavy Mental alone, Priest is my fav MC. I owe it my brother, and when you say he can bore you to death, to me those are the times when he tries to cater to the commercial world. The greatest thing Pries brought to the game is that most of what he says goes right over bruthas head and yet he still is popular. You cant tell me that these little white boy Hip Hop dudes can understand BIBLE. I’m a Hebrew Israelite, as he is, and it took me a minute to decipher it. He needs to not give in to the traps of (Hell) the current state of Hip Hop and continue to be strong enough to stand alone. I dont even consider him a WU affiliate, hes Killah Priest. Heavy Mental to me is one of the best “Albums” ever made because of its continuity, and melodic tracks. He needs to return to that form, as much as Nas needs to return to Illmatic, and OC needs to return to WordLife. Shalam’

No disrespect to Nas and Canibus (incredible lyricists, indeed), but Priest is the most prolific, lyrically dense, and important M.C. since Rakim. Truth be told, there’s actually no need to explain my position; anyone who’s listened to his material, from Heavy Mental to The Offering, understands clearly what I mean. Nonetheless, he’s still severely underated and underappreciated!(EZEKIEL 2:5-7). SHALAWAM BAHA SHAM YAHAWAH!!!!

    Dame Grease, Styles P & Nore-Sour Diesel

    dame-grease-1.jpg

Growing up on the streets of Harlem, Dame Grease never took to the sounds of rap music until his late teens when he first heard the nocturnal nihilism of N.W.A. andIce T. This hardcore sound and its affiliated gangsta attitude connected with Grease, who then found himself immersed in the culture after forming a neighborhood group called N.I.B. It wasn’t long before he found himself producing beats, looking to the aggressive sounds of the Bomb Squad and Dr. Dre for influence. By the end of the 1990s, Grease had collaborated with such prominent New York rap artists as DMX, the LOX, and Nas.

    South Jamaica Queens Stand Up!

    minz_promo.jpg

    MINZ

    (South Jamaica Queens, NY)

MINZ was originally Criminal Minds, then they broke it down to MINZ in 1995 which stands for Masters of Intellect that have Niggas Zoning. MINZ consists of two memebers, L.D & RED MONEY.

MINZ grew up on the same block in South Jamaica Queens.Antonio (LD) & Tariq ( RED) started rhyming together in 1993 on Lakewood Ave. At the time they were hustling and just toyin’ around withthe flows. People around the way were always telling them that they were “nice” with their rhymes. In 1994 they formed MINZ and started going to DEF’s studio on Archer Avenue in Queens with producer Brandon (Beat Don) to start recording songs.

Their first song was called “DAMN”. The song got a good response so they went on to record several more songs. Buddy from the group INTRO(who is LD’s nephew) entered MINZ into a showcase at Camie Hall in New York City. The showcase went very well and several labels were impressed. Since they were not focused and continued their streetlife, MINZ was at a standstill. (More …)

No…..But take that same spoon twirl it around as if it were an airplane for a minute…Now the baby no longer thinks of it as green beans and opens its mouth….With the result of the baby swallowing what you had been trying to feed him all along….L

I feel you on incorporating different Genres of music. Hip-hop is bigger than where it all started. Now that it’s national, moreover international we gotta think like that in da BX, Harlem, Brooklyn, L.I., QB and beyond. NYC fell off for a minute, I’ll never claim to be the savior but I got da blueprint!! Keep doing your thing fam and much respect for looking out for local artists!!!

      PEACE!! P.C.

      @ Reckless:

I don’t feel a lot of music I post, but someone likes Hurricane Chris and other artist like him so I gotta post what I get. I’m from the BX so trust me I’m not feeling 80% of what’s out but I can allienate the entire country and just play what I consider ‘real hip hop’

Trying To Maintain The Status Quo

    stat.jpg

Stanley Benton (born July 24, 1979), better known as Stat Quo, is an Atlanta-based African-American rapper signed to Eminem’s Shady Records and Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Entertainment. He has been generating mixtape buzz since 2002.  He is also a part of Grown Man Music, a record label he founded with LT Moe. Benton attended University of Florida, where he majored in economics, before pursuing a musical career. His debut album Statlanta was expected to be released in 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006 but has inexplicably been repeatedly pushed back. Stat Quo is also featured on Young Buck’s Straight Outta Cashville, Eminem’s Eminem Presents The Re-Up and on the track “Spend Some Time” on Eminem’s Encore. Stat has appeared on tracks with artists such as Jermaine Dupri,The Alchemist, The Game, Disturbing tha Peace and Chamillionaire.  —–  (Personal Info From Wikipedia) (More …)

Hip Hop culture needs more females who hold their own and aren’t sitting always in the support role. Female M.C’s who don’t just talk about Gucci, Fendi, Prada and how sprung they got dudes off their pussy, is nessacary for Hip Hop to move on into the future. We don’t need any more Remy’s and Bab’s Bunny’s we need more M.C’s like Jean Grae and Hurricane G. Operation Take Back Hip-Hop is in full effect thanks to BronxRap.
